Blur - Trimm Trabb
I got no style
I’ll take my time
All those losers on the piss again
I dose, dose away
That’s just the way it is
That’s just the way it is
I’ve got trimm trabb
Like the flash boys have
And I can’t go back
Let it flow, let it flow

Arab Proverb, h/t a paraphrase by @larazankoul. It seems the more common version of this is the Quranic: عسى ان تكرهوا شيئا وهو خيرٌ لكم
Translated liberally, it means “avoid hating [i.e. complaining about] things [usually means bad turn of events], as they may be good for you.” There’s certainly a fatalistic/teleological and even quietist side to this statement, but I always found it also carries within it a good antidote (or anti-venom) against pessimism in the face of adversity. Often, to think this is to prompt yourself to make a good thing come through, to outmaneuver your obstacles, and to fulfill your own prophesy.
For the win.
“Oh my God! We’re so set
In our own ways, that we forget:
We are insignificant!
We’ll be gone; soon be forgotten..
When you said to me I was dead to you
I accepted that I disagreed with you.
What we want, we don’t know -
Give us cages, let us go!
Give us cages, let us go… (give us guns!)
Enemy; fuck the pride!
Come on over to our side!
We’re the same, just afraid -
What’s the difference when we’re all dying?”
Gob - We’re All Dying
“This story may not help you, these words may fail,
But I just read a book that made me wanna chase my tail:
About a man who couldn’t fathom water in his cup,
And now that I’ve finished it, I wanna tear it up.
So what do you say to that bookworm? Do you feel like lynching me?
Do you wanna see me hanging from the nearest year-old tree?
Well catch me if you can you fucker I can run for days,
These polluted city branches couldn’t hold me anyway.
(this part is about ‘The Trial’ by Franz Kafka)”
